How did my new toothbrush get tarter off?

So I got the oral-b triumph 5000 and used it for 2 weeks. Went to the dentist( now that i have insurance) and found out the 5000 got the tarter and plaque off? I thought you cant get tarter off? is the toothbrush stronger or something?
