Central Heating Problem - Frozen Outdoor Plastic Pipes [HELP]?

In this cold weather this is very common. Insulation is not really a satisfactory solution as the end of the drain pipe has to be open to allow the water to drain and that is where the freezing takes place. The only certain solution is to wrap trace heater tape around the drain pipe. This will keep the pipe just above freezing and stop ice blocking it
